CRB Associates have been providing value-added web services to the NHS since 2002, and we are now proud to announce our new range of podcasting services, in partnership with the University of London Computer Centre (ULCC).
To the end user, a podcasting service is twofold. Firstly, it allows the download of large, media-rich files (eg. audio; video; video with PowerPoint overlay; etc) from a robust host site. Secondly, it alerts users to the availability of new material by means of a news feed, either via a subscription in their preferred aggregator software (eg. Bloglines; iTunes), or by an automatically updating link on your organisation’s public web site or private staff area.
Firstly, each piece of rich media content that you want to publish needs to be encoded into a web compatible format. The complexity of this process varies with the type of media you are working with, and we can encode your files for you if you would prefer not to handle the technicalities of this process yourself.
Secondly, your encoded files are uploaded to your podcasting server. This can be carried out either by you or by us, using a web based, password-protected management tool which is personalised for your organisation. Once uploaded, your podcast is immediately available for download by existing or newly subscribing users.
If you already benefit from a web site hosted and maintained by CRB Associates, we can add a ‘feed reader’ module to the site, which will read your latest podcast information and display links as appropriate. We can also ensure that your podcasting management tool is seamlessly integrated with your existing Content Management System for ease of access. This is a one-off piece of development work which will automatically update itself once implemented on your site.
